Stuart is an avid collector of vintage football shirts - at last count he has got ...well, let's just say...he's got quite a lot.
He says that it is often the 'hunt' for the next new item that is the fun part ...rather than the actual getting of the item. Although he was delighted to recently secure his "Penny Black" - and a dentist's favourite - the 1997 Home shirt of Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa... sponsored by Colgate !
Like any collection, Stuart explains that his football shirts evoke a certain feeling of nostalgia for happy times... and that's a good thing.
Collectors are often mocked as being a bit sad and a bit weird ...but the thing is, collections can be a great stress buster, as well as a conversation starter ...and they can introduce you to people that share the same interests.
In dental circles Stuart is well known for his football shirt collection and when he is invited to lecture ...the expectation is that he wears a football shirt !
At the end of the day it's all about collecting memories and there nothing wrong with that !
